Brinjal, commonly known as eggplant, is a best grown outdoors, especially in sunny conditions.

Eggplant plants can grow between 60 cm to 120 cm tall, depending on the variety, and they develop relatively quickly within a single growing season, usually reaching maturity and producing fruit within 2–4 months.

Eggplant can be successfully grown in pots, making it a good option for balconies or small gardens, as long as the container is large (at least 20–30 liters) and has good drainage. The plant grows steadily throughout its season, producing multiple fruits if regularly harvested. One interesting use of eggplant is its ability to absorb flavors when cooked, making it a popular ingredient in dishes like baba ghanoush and grilled vegetable platters.
